Should we eradicate mosquitoes? Create superintelligent AI? Create artificial wombs? These are some of the questions on Ada’s mind as she heads to the first day of her new job at the public library. She soon realizes her daily reality–mundane duties, grumpy boss–is completely at odds with the urgency she feels about the pressing problems facing humanity. Ada struggles to balance this reality with the future she imagines, where she explores her big ideas with anyone who will listen–her boss, her grandmother, or an unsuspecting visitor to the library.

NASA is famous for beautiful space images, but did you know you can listen to them? Go behind the scenes with the team that creates “sonifications,” translations of data into sound, and learn how meaningful they are to people who are blind or low-vision.
1:00 pm 1:30 pm SCREENING The Chasers of Tornado Alley: Touching the Sky / Director - Martin Lisius
I was inspired to make this film after giving a presentation about storm chasing to school children. They seemed confused when I explained to them how it works, referring to videos they had seen on YouTube, or storm chasers they had seen in movies. My goal was to tell the story about "real" storm chasers and how, why, and where they do it. And, to accurately describe the unique types of storms they pursue. The film was produced on DCI 4K, but we also used Super 35mm film and 16K video with a 16K camera system we built from scratch. We wanted to utilize the best cinematography methods we could to better help audiences experience the amazing things we see in Tornado Alley.
